Deputyship:

Disability Focus are able to act as Deputy for individuals who lack capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs.

A Deputy is appointed by the Court of Protection. A capacity assessment around financial management is completed by either a social worker or medical professional to accompany an application to the Court.

Disability Focus, as a not-for-profit charity, will charge fees that the Court permit a Deputy to charge at the same rate as a Local Authority acting as Deputy. Referrals would normally be made by a Social worker or other professionals who believes that an individual would benefit from this service. A Deputy follows the Mental Capacity Act 2005 principles and reports to the Office of the Public Guardian.
